Prof. Dr. Christoph Wittmann is a full professor (W3) of Systems Biotechnology at Saarland University, where he leads the Institute for Systems Biotechnology. He holds a Diploma in Biotechnology from TU Braunschweig (1993, with distinction), a PhD from the same institution (1997, summa cum laude), and completed his habilitation at Saarland University (2006).
His research encompasses:
- Systems and synthetic biotechnology (fluxomics, metabolomics, transcriptomics)
- Metabolic pathway analysis and engineering
- Industrial biotechnology applications
