Prof. Dr. Christoph Schneider holds the Chair of Finance at the University of Münster’s School of Business and Economics. He has been a Professor of Finance since 2020, previously serving as Assistant Professor at Tilburg University (2017–2020) and Visiting Professor at the University of Michigan (2012–2013). His academic journey includes a habilitation (2010–2017) and doctoral studies at the Universities of Mannheim and Humboldt Berlin, with an exchange period at UC Berkeley (2002–2003).
His research focuses on empirical corporate finance, including mergers and acquisitions, behavioral finance, corporate governance, and labor-market interactions. Notable work examines M&A valuation biases, CEO decision-making under risk, and labor representation in governance. His research has been published in top journals like the Journal of Finance and Review of Finance, earning multiple awards including the Best Paper Award from the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Finanzierung (2021) and the Pagano and Zechner Prize (2019).
Prof. Schneider leads the Finest in Finance excellence program, fostering talent development through collaboration with industry practitioners since 2012. His teaching spans advanced corporate finance, M&A strategies, and entrepreneurial finance. He regularly advises students and contributes to the Finance Center Münster’s academic and practical initiatives.
