Prof. Dr. Christoph R. Jacob is a Full Professor for Theoretical Chemistry at the Faculty of Life Sciences, Technische Universität Braunschwe1998–2000: Studies at Philipps University Marburg and University of Karlsruhe (TH) (Chemistry and Mathematics), where he obtained his Diploma in Chemistry (2003). His doctoral research at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (2004–2007) focused on Frozen-Density Embedding, supervised by Prof. Evert-Jan Baerends and Dr. Lucas Visscher. After postdoctoral work at ETH Zürich (2008–2010), he led an Independent Young Scientist Group at KIT (2010–2014), where he habilitated in 2013 with a thesis on Reconstruction Methods for the Analysis of Entangled Quantum Systems. He joined TU Braunschweig as a W2 Professor in 2014 and declined a W3 Professorship at Humboldt University Berlin in 2020.
His research focuses on quantum chemistry, computational methods, and chemical bonding analysis. Awards include the Hans G.A. Hellmann Prize (2014), LehrLeo-Award (2020), and early recognition through German Academic Scholarship Foundation support. He has held administrative roles as Director of the Institute of Physical and Theoretical Chemistry (2016–2019), Dean of Studies for Chemistry/Biochemistry (2017–2021), and Dean of the Faculty of Life Sciences (2021–2023). He also leads the Agnes-Pockels-Laboratory for student outreach (since 2020).
