Christoph Knoth (*1985) is a Professor of Digital Graphic at HFBK Hamburg since 2017, where he co-leads the department of Graphic Art / Typography / Photography with Konrad Renner. He studied graphic design at Gerrit Rietveld Academie (Amsterdam) and University of Art and Design Burg Giebichenstein (Halle), followed by an MA in type design (2011) at ECAL / Lausanne. His research focuses on parametric type design through projects like Computed Type (Jan van Eyck Akademie 2012) and Digital Typography (Bauhaus University 2016). As founder of the Knoth & Renner design studio (2011), he has collaborated with institutions like Casco Utrecht, Venice Biennale pavilions, and !Mediengruppe Bitnik. He has conducted workshops at EKA Tallinn, Sandberg Institute, and NTU Singapore.
Christoph co-founded the PhD in Art Practice program at HFBK Hamburg (2025) and contributed to key projects like the Digital Publication for 'The New Woman' exhibition (2024). His work bridges typographic innovation with artistic practice, emphasizing interdisciplinary approaches to visual communication.
