Christine Römermann is Professor for Plant Biodiversity at Friedrich Schiller University Jena, where she directs the Institute of Ecology and Evolution (since 2023) and will lead the Institute of Biodiversity, Ecology and Evolution from April 2025. She serves as Director of the Senckenberg Institute of Plant Diversity Jena (SIP) and Vice President of the Society for Ecology of Germany, Austria and Switzerland (GfÖ). As a Principal Investigator at the German Centre for Integrative Biodiversity Research (iDiv), she sits on its Science Strategy Board and FlexPool Board. She also holds roles in the Faculty of Life Sciences' Council and Finance Committee.
Her research integrates plant biodiversity, ecological patterns, and theoretical modeling, with applications in conservation and ecosystem analysis. Prior roles include Junior Professor at University of Regensburg and Academic Councillor at Goethe University Frankfurt.
