About
Christine Reyna is a Professor of Psychology at DePaul University's College of Science and Health, leading the Social and Intergroup Perceptions (SIP) Lab. She holds a Ph.D. in Social Psychology from UCLA (2000), with prior degrees from UCLA: MA in Social Psychology (1994) and BA in Psychology (1991).
Her research focuses on group identity, stereotypes, and intergroup relations, particularly examining how stereotypes legitimize prejudice through attributions, values, and moral framing. Key areas include racial/gender discrimination, systemic injustice, immigration, political polarization, and extremism. She investigates prejudice across ideological spectrums and its manifestations in both inter- and intra-group dynamics.
Recent work explores ideological strategies for cultural preservation, the role of friendship in confronting racism, anti-immigrant attitudes, and racial nostalgia's link to extremism. Her scholarship challenges WEIRD (Western, Educated, Industrialized, Rich, Democratic) psychology biases, advocating for multicultural perspectives.
Reyna's SIP Lab advances understanding of social perception and intergroup interactions. Though no student advisees are listed here, her work has influenced policy debates on equity and social cohesion. Grants and funding details are not provided in available texts.
Her research outputs consistently address societal inequities, emphasizing moral psychology, system justification, and the psychological underpinnings of social structures.
