Christine Poggi

Christine Poggi is the John L. Loeb Professor of Fine Arts at New York University’s Institute of Fine Arts. Her research focuses on early 20th-century European avant-gardes, particularly Cubism and Futurism, exploring intersections between art, labor, technology, and performance. She holds degrees from University of California, Santa Cruz (BA), University of Chicago (MA), and Yale (PhD).

• Key research areas include collage techniques, abstraction, and art’s relationship to modernity.
• Co-curated exhibitions like Power Fields: Explorations in the Work of Vito Acconci (2008) and Collage and Montage in Twentieth-Century Art (1987).

Recipient of the MLA’s Howard R. Marraro Prize (2010) and Ira H. Abrams Memorial Award (2009). Active in academic leadership roles: Trustee at the Barnes Foundation, Advisory Board member at Center for Italian Modern Art (CIMA), and faculty at Scuola Normale Superiore (Pisa).
