Professor Christine Phillips AM is Associate Dean, Research (Health Social Science) at ANU College of Health and Medicine. She pioneered integrating social sciences into medical education and directs Companion House Medical Service providing torture/trauma care for refugees. Her work focuses on health equity for marginalized populations including refugees, asylum seekers, and urban poor. She co-founded the Refugee Health Network of Australia and developed national standards for health practitioners working with interpreters.
Research Focus: Social justice in medical practice, refugee trauma care models, health system reform for vulnerable populations, and decolonizing medical education through arts/humanities integration.
Honors: Awarded AM for services to medicine, medical education and refugee health. Leads initiatives addressing health disparities in Indigenous communities and urban poverty.
