Christine Musselin

Christine Musselin is a CNRS Research Professor and Director of the Centre de Sociologie des Organisations (CSO), a research unit jointly affiliated with CNRS and Sciences Po. Her career spans decades of comparative research on higher education systems, focusing on university governance, labor markets, and public policies.

• Education: Research Director accreditation (2000), Doctorate (1987), Postgraduate in sociology (1982), and Bachelor’s in commerce (1980).

Her research integrates three theoretical frameworks: organization/decision theories, public policy analysis, and labor economics/sociology. She has explored academic labor markets through influential books like Le marché des universitaires (2005) and Les universitaires (2008), and contributed to debates on the Bologna Process and institutional reform. Her work bridges empirical studies with policy-oriented analysis, particularly in France, Germany, and the U.S.

Scientific Awards include DAAD (1984-1985), Harvard (1998), and Fulbright (1999) fellowships, as well as a 2009 visiting scholarship at Wissenschaftliches Zentrum Berlin. She has held leadership roles in academic networks such as the Consortium for Higher Education Research (CHER) and RESUP, and serves on editorial boards for journals like Sociologie du travail and Minerva.
