Christine Kovic, Ph.D., is a Professor of Anthropology and Cross-Cultural Studies at the University of Houston-Clear Lake, affiliated with the College of Human Sciences and Humanities. Her work focuses on human rights, immigration, and health, particularly in the context of Latina/o communities in the U.S. and Central American migration through Mexico.
Her research explores the human rights implications of U.S.-Mexico border enforcement policies and the role of grassroots organizing in advocating for immigrant rights. She has previously published extensively on indigenous rights in southern Mexico, including two notable books.
