Dr. Christine Grant is a Professor in the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at North Carolina State University (NC State), where she has served for over 32 years. She also held the role of inaugural Associate Dean of Faculty Advancement in the College of Engineering for 12 years, overseeing faculty development, promotion, and tenure processes. She is a Fellow and 2022 President of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE), and a recognized leader in STEM diversity and inclusion.
Dr. Grant earned her Sc.B. from Brown University (1984), and M.S. and Ph.D. from Georgia Institute of Technology (1986, 1989). Her research focuses on surface/interfacial science, fouling mechanisms, and environmentally benign cleaning technologies. She has also been a Visiting Professor at Duke University, Caltech, and the University of Minnesota.
Her advocacy for underrepresented minorities and women in STEM has earned her numerous awards, including the NSF PAESMEM (2003), AAAS Mentor Award (2015), and multiple AIChE honors. She has led NSF ADVANCE grants to drive institutional transformation in STEM, advised universities like Texas A&M and Cornell, and co-authored Success Strategies from Women in STEM: A Portable Mentor.
As a global speaker, she delivers workshops on career resilience and inclusive leadership, with engagements at NIH, NSF, and international conferences. Her consulting firm, STEM Resilience, designs diversity programs for academia and industry.
