Dr. Christine Castater is an Assistant Professor of Surgery at Morehouse School of Medicine and serves as the Vice Chair of Access, Engagement, and Justice within the Department of Inclusive Excellence, Equity, and Belonging. She holds multiple leadership positions including Assistant Director of the Surgery Clerkship and Trauma Surgery Site Director at Morehouse School of Medicine. Clinically, Dr. Castater serves as the Acute Care Surgery Wards Medical Director and Trauma Surgeon at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia.

Dr. Castater's research focuses on critical issues at the intersection of trauma care and social justice. Her primary research interests include intimate partner violence, trauma-informed care, violence prevention, healthcare disparities, equity and inclusion in surgical training, and post-traumatic stress disorder. Her clinical expertise spans complex trauma management, surgical critical care, and wraparound trauma care for vulnerable populations. She is board certified by the American Board of Surgery in both General Surgery and Surgical Critical Care.
Her recent publications demonstrate a strong focus on trauma surgery outcomes, vascular injuries, abdominal reconstruction techniques, and the application of trauma-informed principles to healthcare delivery. Dr. Castater's work frequently addresses unique trauma cases including bullet embolization, rare chest injuries, and management of vascular injuries across different patient populations.
