Christina I. Tarnanidou

Christina I. Tarnanidou serves as an Associate Professor in Commercial and Financial Law within the Department of Business Administration at the School of Business, Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB). She teaches Commercial Law, Capital Markets Law, Corporate Governance, and Energy Financial Law at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

Her academic credentials include graduate and postgraduate studies at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and additional postgraduate coursework at the University of Essex (UK). She earned her PhD from the School of Law of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, focusing on the "Doctrine of Derivatives Contracts of the Financial Sector".

With over two decades of professional experience, Professor Tarnanidou is a senior legal expert specializing in commercial and financial law. Her research and professional work extensively cover:

• Capital Markets Regulation (including MiFIDII, CSDR, EMIR, SRD, SFTR, SSR, FCD, SFD)
• Corporate Governance
• Energy Financial Law and Energy Market Regulations
• EU Financial Regulatory Frameworks

Her professional engagements include serving as legal counsel for major Greek financial market infrastructures (such as ATHEX, ADEX, and their subsidiaries) since 1999, and representing these institutions in European associations like ECSDA. She has chaired key legislative committees for EU regulation compliance and collaborated with the Greek Ministry of Finance and EU supervisory bodies including ESMA.

Professor Tarnanidou actively contributes to academic discourse through publications in journals such as Financial Regulation International and the Journal of International Banking and Financial Law, and has authored seven monographs. She regularly participates in international conferences including Energy Trading Regulations & Compliance Summits and events at Harvard University.
