Christie Bartels, MD, MS, is an Associate Professor and Chief of the Division of Rheumatology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Medicine and Public Health. She holds leadership roles including Academic Advisory Council Lead for the Dissemination & Implementation Launchpad at UW's Institute for Clinical and Translational Research (ICTR).
Her research focuses on reducing health disparities and improving cardiovascular outcomes in rheumatic diseases, particularly systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). Key investigations examine hydroxychloroquine therapeutic monitoring, lupus nephritis management, and implementation of cardiovascular risk protocols in rheumatology clinics. She develops national quality measures through the ACR RISE Registry and contributes to clinical guidelines.
