Christian Tryon

Christian Tryon is Professor and Department Head of Anthropology at the University of Connecticut, specializing in Paleolithic archaeology and human evolution. His research reconstructs behavioral changes in early humans through stone tool analysis and tephrochronology across East Africa and the Mediterranean.

Research focuses on:

• Modern human origins and dispersal patterns
• Volcanic ash dating methodologies
• Behavioral adaptation in Pleistocene environments

Fieldwork includes directing projects at Kisese II rockshelter (Tanzania) and Ksâr 'Akil (Lebanon). He maintains affiliations with Harvard University and the Smithsonian's Human Origins Program while teaching courses on African Archaeology and Modern Human Origins.
