- PhD in International Law, University of Aarhus (2021)
Prener's research critically examines citizenship law through the lenses of international human rights and global mobility, with particular emphasis on denationalisation practices in counter-terrorism contexts. His work interrogates the tension between state sovereignty and individual rights in citizenship revocation cases, while exploring how legal frameworks perpetuate or challenge historical discrimination in nationality law. This scholarship bridges theoretical analysis with urgent real-world applications in migration governance.
His 2022 publications reveal a cohesive research trajectory analyzing citizenship revocation in Western states, with monograph and article contributions highlighting intersections between counter-terrorism policies, statelessness, and discriminatory legacies in nationality law. These works establish him as a specialist in the legal and moral implications of denationalisation within contemporary human rights discourse.
Scientific recognition:
- Carlsberg Foundation Internationalisation Fellow
Prener actively translates academic expertise into policy impact through advisory roles for the Danish Parliament, human rights institutions, and NGOs. His practical engagements include litigation support on citizenship revocation cases, statelessness determinations, and complex repatriation scenarios involving foreign fighters from Syria, demonstrating applied scholarship in high-stakes legal contexts.
He contributes to the Global Citizenship research group at EUI's Robert Schuman Centre, participating in interdisciplinary collaborations examining citizenship's evolving role within transnational governance structures and mobility regimes.
