Christian Olsson

Christian Olsson is a Professor of International Relations at the Free University of Brussels (ULB), where he directs the research center REPI (Research and Studies in International Politics) and contributes to CREG (Research Center on the Experience of War). His work bridges academic analysis and real-world conflict zones through extensive fieldwork.

His research examines:

• Military interventions and armed conflicts with regional focus on the Middle East, Afghanistan, and Iraq
• Historical evolution of security practices and institutions
• Impact of private military companies in modern warfare
• Transnational dynamics of non-state armed groups
