About
Christian Nolf is a Lecturer in the Landscape Architecture and Spatial Planning department at Wageningen University (since 2021). He holds a PhD in Engineering (Landscape Urbanism) from KU Leuven and has held academic roles at institutions including Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (2014–2021) and Antwerp University. He also serves as an honorary visiting professor at Zhejiang University and a part-time guest professor at KU Leuven's MSc in Urbanism.
His research focuses on delta regions' adaptive capacities through historical analysis, interpretive mapping, and participatory design. Key areas include integrated water management, cultural landscape evolution, and urban-rural dynamics in regions like the Yangtze River Delta, Mekong Delta, and Rhine-Meuse-Scheldt delta. His work combines design studios and co-productive workshops with public agencies, supported by grants from FWO (Flanders) and NSFC (China).
Notable projects include the Jiangnan Lab (exploring regional design in China) and the Taipu Canal regional spine initiative. His research has been exhibited internationally and awarded multiple prizes. Teaching responsibilities include MSc thesis supervision and design studios emphasizing systems approaches to landscape architecture.
