Christian Lehmann is a Professor at Dalhousie University's Faculty of Medicine, holding joint appointments in the Departments of Microbiology & Immunology, Physiology and Biophysics, and Pharmacology. He is based at the Queen Elizabeth II Health Sciences Centre in Halifax, Canada. His research focuses on sepsis, inflammation, and microcirculation imaging, with a particular interest in cannabinoid therapies and critical care medicine.
Education: Medical Diploma, MD, and PhD from Humboldt University (Berlin, Germany), followed by FRCPC certification from Dalhousie University.
Research Interests: Investigating immune responses to sepsis and stroke, developing anti-inflammatory drugs, and applying intravital imaging techniques. His lab, the Lehmann Microcirculation Lab, advances diagnostic and therapeutic approaches for inflammation-related disorders.
Awards: Includes the Society of Critical Care Medicine's Anesthesiology Specialty Research Award (2002), Rising Stars in Global Health Award (2013), and multiple grants from Canadian and international foundations.
Teaching/Advising: Supervised 10 undergraduate/summer students, 5 graduate students, and 4 postdoctoral fellows. Coordinating Special Topics Pharmacology courses and teaching anesthesia residents.
Labs/Teams: Leads the Microcirculation Lab, collaborating internationally on preclinical and clinical research in inflammation and shock management.
