Christian Jeremiah Lewis is an Adjunct Assistant Professor teaching in both English and Women's, Queer, and Feminist Studies at Vassar College. A Vassar graduate (BA 2017), they earned their PhD from CUNY Graduate Center in 2022. Their interdisciplinary research examines intersections of disability, gender, and sexuality in literary and cultural contexts.
Research focuses include Victorian literature, queer dramaturgy, medical humanities, and contemporary pop culture manifestations of gender. Publications analyze representations of disability in 19th-century novels, hypochondria in Austen, and modern theatrical works through disability and queer theory frameworks.
Courses taught include Disability, Gender and Sexuality in Literature (ENGL 218), Introduction to Queer Studies (WQFS 201), and critical writing seminars focused on melodrama.
