Christian Hopp

Prof. Dr. Christian Hopp is a Professor and Director of the Institute of Applied Data Science & Finance at Bern University of Applied Sciences (BFH). He leads the Department of Foundations and Methods, focusing on Entrepreneurship, Innovation Management, and Econometric Analysis. Prior roles include heading Technology-Oriented Entrepreneurship at RWTH Aachen (until 2020) and serving as Assistant Professor at the University of Vienna (2008–2013).

His research spans Entrepreneurial Finance, Crowdfunding, Venture Capital, and Big Data Analytics. Notable awards include the Best Reviewer Award (2019) and recognition in the Research Monitoring Ranking (2019). He has authored over 60 publications in top-tier journals like Journal of Business Venturing and Journal of Product Innovation Management.

Education includes a Dr. rer. pol. in Quantitative Economics from the University of Konstanz, an MBA from the University of Pittsburgh, and a Master in Financial Management from Rotterdam School of Management. He serves as Consulting Editor for International Journal of Management Reviews and has guest-edited special issues on Innovation in Digital Age and Entrepreneurship.
