Christian Emery

Christian Emery is an Associate Professor (Teaching) in International Politics at University College London's School of Slavonic and East European Studies (SSEES). He joined SSEES in 2020 after teaching International Relations at the University of Plymouth (2014–2020) and serving as a full-time Teaching Fellow at the London School of Economics (2011–2014). His academic journey began at the University of Birmingham, where he earned a BA in History (2003), MPhil (2005), and PhD (2011). He has held visiting roles at Carleton University (2015) and the University of Virginia.

Emery's research focuses on political science, historical studies, Middle Eastern/North African history, and policy analysis. His work critically examines US foreign policy toward Iran, Cold War dynamics, and diplomatic strategies in conflict zones. His publications analyze crises such as the 1979 Iranian Revolution, the Iran-Iraq War, and contemporary US-Iran relations.
