About
Christian David is a Researcher and Group Leader of the X-Ray Nano-Optics group at the Photon Science Division of the Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI). He also serves as Deputy Head of the Laboratory for X-ray Nanoscience and Technologies (LXN). After earning his PhD in Physics from Georg-August-University of Göttingen in 1993, he joined PSI in 1996, advancing to lead his group in 2002. His research focuses on nanofabrication techniques for advanced X-ray optics, imaging, and instrumentation at synchrotrons and X-ray free-electron lasers.
- Röntgen Prize (2010) for x-ray phase contrast imaging.
- Innovationspreis Synchrotronstrahlung (2018) for developments in diffractive X-ray optics.
His work has resulted in over 350 peer-reviewed publications (H-index 74) and 15 patents, with applications spanning global photon science facilities. He chairs the Photon Science Committee at DESY and has mentored more than 20 postdoctoral researchers and 15 graduate students.
