Christian Boerger is a Researcher at the Institute for Practical Theology at the University of Leipzig, working under Prof. Dr. Alexander Deeg. He has been an Assistant and Research Associate since April 2024 and a Doctoral Student since 2019, supported by a scholarship from the Evangelisches Studienwerk Villigst.
- Education: Master of Theology (Magister Theologiae) from Ruhr University Bochum, Georg-August University Göttingen, and the Theological Study Year in Jerusalem.
- Research Focus: Ecumenical liturgy (especially Protestant Eucharistic rites), empirical religious research methods (video ethnography, participant observation), gender studies, intersectional theology.
His dissertation project examines the ritual form of Protestant communion as a 'staged promise'. Recent publications analyze postcolonial theology, gift economy in religious discourse, and Brazilian-German Lutheran worship practices. He co-edits the JThF series at Aschendorff Verlag and organizes conferences like the Practical Theology Forum.
