Prof. Christian Blumenthal is a University Professor and Chairholder of New Testament Exegesis at the University of Bonn’s Faculty of Catholic Theology. He serves as Dean of Studies and Managing Director of the BCDSS. His academic journey includes studies in philosophy, Catholic theology, and Oriental languages (Coptic, Armenian, Syriac, Arabic) at Bonn, Munich, and Rome’s Pontifical Biblical Institute. Ordained as a Catholic priest in 2007, he earned his habilitation in 2015 and assumed his current chair in 2021.
Research focuses on early Jewish and New Testament theology, spatial concepts in biblical texts, and ancient translations. Current projects explore 'New Testament Spatial Concepts' and 'Literary Ambiguities in New Testament Writings.' He actively contributes to scholarly societies like the SNTS and AKN. Publications span monographs (e.g., Basileia im Matthäusevangelium) and peer-reviewed articles analyzing spatial politics, translation techniques, and theological narratives.
