Christen Hutton

Christen Hutton is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Urban and Regional Planning at Florida Atlantic University. She is also the Principal of HD Studio, a landscape architecture and development planning firm with over 18 years of experience across Florida, California, and Wyoming. Her expertise spans public and private sector planning, including entitlements for commercial, residential, institutional, and mixed-use developments, as well as comprehensive plan amendments and public hearing representation.

Professionally, she specializes in park design, campus master planning, GIS analysis, and transportation system planning. She contributed to the Florida Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) Guidebook through a grant with the Treasure Coast Regional Planning Council and Florida Department of Transportation. At the University of Florida, she conducted GIS research on land use, population density, transportation linkages, and agricultural systems, including work with the College of Medicine on NIH-funded studies analyzing cancer patient travel accessibility.

Ms. Hutton holds certifications as a Registered Professional Landscape Architect (PLA) and a Certified Planner (AICP). She earned her Bachelor’s in Landscape Architecture and Master’s in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Florida. She has served on the Jackson Hole Town Planning and Zoning Commission, Larkspur City Recreational Park Design Committee, and collaborated with academic institutions like the Geoplan Center and Center for Building Better Communities.
