About
Christabel Edwards serves as a Lecturer in Nursing at Wrexham Glyndwr University, bringing over two decades of clinical expertise to her academic role. Her background includes extensive practice at major institutions such as Birmingham Children’s Hospital and Great Ormond Street Hospital in London, where she provided care across the pediatric spectrum from neonates to adolescents.
Her educational foundation was established through nurse training completed in 2000 at the University of Central England in Birmingham, leading to qualification as a Children’s Nurse.
Christabel's professional focus centers on specialized pediatric care domains:
- Management of complex health needs in children and young people
- Learning disability nursing within community and school settings
- Acute pain service specialization in pediatric environments
- School nursing and public health integration
Prior to her academic appointment, she held critical positions including Special Schools Nurse at a Wrexham primary school—where she also fulfilled the school nurse public health role for the entire institution—as well as roles at Hope House Hospice and Shropshire CCG commissioning. Outside academia, she is actively engaged as a mother balancing professional commitments with family life.
