Christa M. Chewar

Colonel Christa M. Chewar is the Head of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the United States Military Academy (USMA) and a Professor. With a distinguished military career, she was commissioned into the U.S. Army Signal Corps after graduating from West Point in 1995.

• Education: Ph.D. and M.S. in Computer Science from Virginia Tech, MBA from Webster University, B.S. in Geography with Computer Science from USMA.

Research Interests:

• Human-computer interaction
• Robot-human interaction
• Augmented and virtual reality
• Software testing, design, and reuse
• Computer science education

Her work aligns with the Robotics Research Center and Cyber Research Center at USMA. She has held leadership roles including Computer Science Program Director (2014-2019) and National Defense University Senior Service College Fellow.
