Christa Haney

Christa Haney is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Geosciences at Mississippi State University (MSU) and serves as Director of Distance Learning Programs. With nearly 25 years of experience in online education, she specializes in weather-climate-human health linkages, weather hazards, and pedagogical innovation using authentic datasets.

• Ph.D. in Earth and Atmospheric Science from MSU (2017)
• M.S. in Geosciences from MSU (1999)
• B.S. in Geography from University of Windsor, Canada (1995)

Her research bridges atmospheric science with public health, focusing on cardiac impacts of winter weather and snow removal, while pioneering experiential learning in online geoscience education. She teaches courses spanning physical geography, oceanography, statistical climatology, and forensic geoscience.
