Christa Gala

Christa Gala is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of English at North Carolina State University, specializing in journalism and creative writing. She holds an M.A. in English from NC State and a B.A. in Journalism from UNC Chapel Hill. Her research and teaching focus on media freedom, global journalism practices, and editing. She advises students in internship programs and led a notable project in Puerto Rico post-Hurricane Maria, earning the David Teeuwen Student Journalism Award. Additionally, she serves on the Student Media Advisory Board and received grants for study abroad initiatives in Prague. Her writing spans newspapers, magazines, and corporate content, with contributions to Chicken Soup for the Soul and Raleigh Magazine. Awards include recognition from the North Carolina Press Club and Writer’s Digest.
