Chrissy Rohan

Chrissy Rohan is a Lecturer in the Department of Animal and Veterinary Sciences (ASCI) at the University of Vermont's College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. She specializes in equine science education, emphasizing experiential learning through hands-on horse management and training. A recipient of the 2022 CALS Carrigan Award for Excellence in Teaching, she is recognized for cultivating a supportive, inclusive environment that fosters student growth and horsemanship skills.

Rohan holds a B.A. in Elementary and Special Education and an M.A. in the Consulting Teacher Program from UVM. Her career spans over 30 years, including 12 years as a special educator. She combines teaching expertise with deep equine knowledge, managing UVM's equine programs and initiatives like the Horse Barn Co-op, where students gain leadership and team management experience.

Her contributions extend beyond academia: she co-developed a farm business management course and organized an animal-related occupational fair. Rohan is also actively involved in Vermont's equine community, volunteering and advocating for the state’s equine industry.

Award highlights include the Vermont Horse Council's Horse Person of the Year (2022) and a prior Outstanding Teacher Award during her graduate studies. She is praised for her innovative teaching strategies, dedication to student mentorship, and commitment to advancing agricultural education.
