Chrisanthi Avgerou is a Professor of Information Systems at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), Department of Management. Her research focuses on the socio-technical aspects of IT innovation, particularly its impact on organizational change and socio-economic development, with a strong emphasis on developing countries. She has held academic roles at LSE since 1986, progressing from Lecturer to Senior Lecturer and then Professor in 2003. Awards: AIS Fellow (1999), IFIP Silver Core (2004), Honorary Doctorate (2018), and AIS Leo Award (2023). She has led editorial roles at MIS Quarterly and served on global IFIP committees, advancing ICT policy and development studies.
Teaching and Mentorship: Developed courses on digital innovation, IS development, and humanitarian IT management. Supervised 15 PhD students on topics ranging from e-governance to netrepreneurship in China. Led doctoral programs and international conferences, fostering next-generation researchers in the field.
