Chris Sanders

Chris Sanders is an Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Sociology at Lakehead University. His office is located in RB 2038, and he maintains an open-door policy for students. He teaches undergraduate courses including Critical Public Health, Sociology of Disaster, and Research Methods, along with graduate seminars on Health & Illness and Global Public Health.

Research Focus

As a medical sociologist, Sanders specializes in public health and mental health with emphasis on social determinants. His SSHRC and CIRN-funded projects investigate:

• Vaccine hesitancy in northern communities
• Access to personal identification as a health determinant
• Ontario sex education curricula
• Social identities of autism diagnoses
