Chris Peters is a Professor and Co-Founder/Director of the Centre for Digital Citizenship at Roskilde University, Denmark. His research focuses on media sociology, journalism studies, and audience research, exploring the intersection of digital society and communication practices. Peters holds a PhD in Sociology from Carleton University, alongside an MA from Carleton and a B.Comm from Queen's University.
His work examines news consumption patterns, digital citizenship, and the evolving role of journalism in contemporary society. Peters has authored or edited numerous books, including Rethinking Journalism and Rethinking Journalism Again, and serves on editorial boards for Journalism, Journalism Studies, and Journalism Practice. He leads the Beyond the Here and Now of News project, funded by the Independent Research Fund Denmark.
