Chris Parrish

Dr. Chris Parrish is a University Research Professor in the Department of Ocean Sciences at Memorial University of Newfoundland. He holds a B.Sc. (Hons) in Chemistry and Oceanography from Wales and a Ph.D. in Oceanography from Dalhousie University. His research focuses on the interface of chemistry and biology in aquatic lipid systems, particularly in marine food webs, pollutant bioaccumulation, and nutritional biomarkers.

Parrish's work spans lipid biochemistry, environmental chemistry, and aquaculture nutrition. He is cross-appointed to the Department of Chemistry and serves as Deputy Head (Graduate Studies and Research) in his department. His research contributes to understanding lipid dynamics in marine organisms, with applications to ecosystem health and sustainable aquaculture practices.

His publications highlight studies on fatty acid profiles in Arctic ecosystems, lipid transfer mechanisms, and the effects of dietary alternatives in farmed salmon.
