Chris Palmstrøm

Chris Palmstrøm is a Distinguished Professor in the Departments of Electrical & Computer Engineering and Materials at the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB). He holds a faculty position within the College of Engineering and leads the Palmstrøm Research Group.

His research focuses on novel materials and structures for device applications, emphasizing heteroepitaxial growth via molecular beam epitaxy (MBE). Key areas include interface engineering, electronic/photonic materials, and topological properties. His lab is equipped with advanced facilities such as 7 MBE systems, ARPES, XPS, STMs under ultra-high vacuum, and ex-situ transport/magnetic measurement instruments.

Prof. Palmstrøm is a Fellow of the Materials Research Society. His work bridges fundamental materials science with applied device development, contributing to advancements in electronic and photonic technologies.
