Chris Dijkerman

Prof. dr. Chris Dijkerman is a neuropsychologist and Head of the Department of Experimental Psychology at Utrecht University. His research examines how the brain processes sensory information to create body representations and peripersonal space, with applications to neurological and psychiatric conditions.

Current investigations focus on somatosensory dysfunction in Parkinson's disease, neuropsychological underpinnings of body integrity disorders, and tactile processing in chronic pain syndromes. He utilizes methods including virtual reality body illusions, physiological measurements, and clinical assessments to study how body representations influence perception and action.

Dijkerman teaches courses on neuropsychology and developmental neuroscience, while leading research projects funded by national and international organizations exploring multisensory integration and body representation disorders.
