Chris Chard

Dr. Chris Chard is a Professor of Sport Management at Brock University’s Faculty of Business. He holds a PhD, MBA, and CIM certification. His research focuses on financial sustainability and managerial decision-making in sport organizations, particularly university/collegiate athletics and not-for-profit sport sectors. He also examines publicly-traded sport firms like Nike and Manchester United.

Dr. Chard has authored over 30 peer-reviewed publications and book chapters, with a focus on case studies in sport management, environmental sustainability in sport facilities, and youth sport participation dynamics. He serves on the editorial board of Case Studies in Sport Management and is a Director at Roseland Park Country Club.

His work explores topics such as athlete recruitment strategies, financial planning for sports organizations, and the impact of tournaments on youth development. Recent research includes analyzing school absenteeism in youth hockey tournaments and evaluating parent perceptions of sport camps.

Professional affiliations include the North American Society for Sport Management (NASSM), where he actively contributes to academic conferences and research agendas.
