Chris Chapin

Chris Chapin is a Professor and Chair of Product Design at the Kansas City Art Institute (KCAI), where he has worked since 2009. He has led the Graphic Design program, taught cross-disciplinary Foundation studios, and created a progressive Product Design program emphasizing entrepreneurship and collaboration with industry professionals, educators, and community leaders.

Previously, he served as Professor of Communication Arts and Fine Arts at Otis College of Art and Design in Los Angeles. Chapin holds degrees from the Institute of Design at IIT and Texas A&M University College of Architecture. His career spans academic leadership, creative direction in a California-based design firm, and board roles at City in Motion Dance Theater, Kansas City Academy, and the Metropolitan School of the Arts Kansas City.
