Chris Buse is Assistant Professor of Environmental Health Inequities in the Faculty of Health Sciences at Simon Fraser University. His research examines how environmental changes differentially impact health across socioeconomic groups, with focus on climate change and resource extraction.
His work integrates social and ecological determinants of health through mixed methods approaches. Current projects include occupational health impacts of climate emergencies, cooling center accessibility studies, and cumulative impact assessments of land use in British Columbia.
Dr. Buse develops novel health impact assessment tools that address environmental justice concerns. He teaches courses on environmental health, indigenous health, and ecosystem approaches while collaborating with communities to develop equity-focused climate adaptation strategies.
