Chris A. Gregg

Christopher Gregg is Professor of Art History at George Mason University, specializing in Roman imperial art and urban topography. His research examines mythological imagery in domestic spaces, portraiture of Antinous, and urban development of ancient cities like Rome and Pompeii. Archaeological fieldwork includes excavations at Carthage, Rome, and Jordan.

He has directed multiple international programs, serving as Andrew W. Mellon Professor in Charge at the Intercollegiate Center for Classical Studies in Rome and co-developing the 'Art and Memory in Rome and Florence' study abroad program. Recent publications analyze material culture from Roman cemeteries, with scholarly contributions appearing in the Journal of Roman Archaeology and Oxford Bibliographies.
