Chip Poland

Dr. Chip Poland serves as Assistant Dean, Director of Agriculture and Technical Studies Program, and Professor of Agriculture at Dickinson State University's School of Applied Sciences, where he chairs the Department of Agriculture and Technical Studies and supervises the DSU rodeo program. He additionally participates in university governance as a member of the Provost’s Academic Advisory Council and co-chair of the Undergraduate Research Committee.

His educational background includes:

• Ph.D. in Animal Sciences from South Dakota State University
• M.S. in Agriculture from West Virginia University
• B.S. in Agriculture from West Virginia University
• Associate of Applied Science in Agriculture from Potomac State College

Poland's expertise centers on applied animal science with emphasis on livestock management and agricultural extension services, developed through 12 years as North Dakota State University's Area Livestock Specialist at the Dickinson Research Extension Center. His leadership in the rodeo program demonstrates practical engagement in equine science and hands-on agricultural training.

Holding a 50% academic appointment, he actively shapes curriculum and departmental strategy while maintaining significant community involvement as president of the Dickinson Rotary Club and member of St. John’s Lutheran Church.
