Chin-Tai Kim

Professor Chin-Tai Kim is a faculty member in the Department of Philosophy at Case Western Reserve University, holding the Beamer-Schneider Professorship in Ethics. He has served as department chair and previously taught as a visiting professor at Yonsei University in Seoul, South Korea. His research focuses on philosophical anthropology, foundations of knowledge/morality, objectivity in cognitive claims, and East-West comparative philosophy. Notable topics in his work include Plato, Descartes, Kant, Hegel, Taoism, and Confucianism.

Education: Baccalaureate from Brown University and Ph.D. from Harvard University. Teaching excellence recognized through 13 nominations and one win of the Wittke Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching.

Research interests span ethics, epistemology, metaphysics, and historical philosophy, with a particular emphasis on synthesizing Western and Eastern philosophical traditions.
