- PhD, Craniofacial Biology, University of Southern California, 2014
Dr. Chen’s research explores mesenchymal stem cell (MSC) immunoregulation through exosomal signaling, with clinical applications in Systemic Lupus Erythematosus and Systemic Sclerosis. His team investigates how histone modifications in MSCs drive cellular rejuvenation during aging and uses single cell transcriptomics to dissect oral cancer biomarkers. Recent work on ferumoxytol nanozymes highlights his innovation in targeted antimicrobial delivery for dental infections.
His scientific awards include the NIDCR Small Grant (2019-2021), Pathway to Independent K99/R00 (2016-2022), and CIRM Training Scholar distinction (2012-2014). Dr. Chen serves on the DScD Thesis Committee and PDM Summer Retreat Organizing Committee.
