Chiara Ongaro is a Researcher and Doctoral Assistant at the Photovoltaics and Thin Film Electronics Laboratory (PV-LAB) within the School of Engineering (STI) at EPFL. She is concurrently registered as a student in the Doctoral Program in Materials Science and Engineering (EDMX). Her research focuses on advancing photovoltaic technologies, particularly in thin-film electronics and sustainable energy systems. She collaborates on projects such as integrating metal meshes into perovskite solar cells and evaluating solar cookers for humanitarian applications in Uganda. Her work bridges materials science with real-world energy solutions.
Research interests include optimizing solar cell efficiency, sustainable energy access, and scalable renewable technologies. She is affiliated with the PV-LAB, part of the Institute of Materials (IEM) at EPFL.
