Dr. Chi Kin (Stephen) Law is an Associate Professor and Principal Research Fellow in Health Economics at the NHMRC Clinical Trials Centre, University of Sydney. His work focuses on the economic evaluation of healthcare interventions, particularly in cancer and chronic disease management. He is internationally recognized for his expertise in burden of disease assessment and modeling of healthcare utilization and costs.
Dr. Law holds a bachelor's degree in finance and a PhD from the University of Hong Kong. His research interests span across health economics, burden of disease assessment, healthcare utilization and costs, cost-effectiveness analysis, and quality of life assessments for patients with cancers and chronic conditions. His work frequently addresses health inequalities and the economic aspects of healthcare delivery for vulnerable populations.
Dr. Law's recent publications demonstrate a strong focus on economic evaluations of clinical interventions across various disease areas including cancer, cardiovascular disease, and surgical procedures. His research often employs sophisticated health economic methodologies and contributes to evidence-based healthcare policy decisions. Notably, he has published extensively on cost-effectiveness analyses of cancer treatments and interventions for chronic conditions.
Dr. Law serves as Treasurer of the Health Services Research Association of Australia and New Zealand and is a member of several important committees including the RPAH Ethics Clinical Trials Sub-committee. He is also an individual member of the Australian Clinical Trials Alliance and the Australian Health Economics Society, and holds an honorary research fellowship at the Sau Po Centre on Ageing at the University of Hong Kong.
As a supervisor, Dr. Law currently advises four research students working on diverse topics including administrative data for healthcare resource use measurement, patient preferences for AI-assisted skin cancer diagnosis, health economic evaluation of ambulance transfers, and cost-effectiveness analysis of tuberculosis treatments.
