Dr. Cherith Tucker serves as the Chair of the Division of Mathematics and Professor of Mathematics at Oklahoma Baptist University (OBU). She has held this leadership position since January 2018. Prior to OBU, she was a graduate teaching assistant at the University of Oklahoma and an adjunct instructor at Southern Nazarene University. Her academic journey includes a B.A. in Mathematics from Southern Nazarene University (2007), M.A. (2009) and Ph.D. in Mathematics (2013) from the University of Oklahoma, with a dissertation focusing on Geodesic Fibrations of Elliptic 3-Manifolds, and an endorsement in teaching undergraduate mathematics.
Her research interests span low-dimensional topology, knot theory, graph theory, and the topology of manifolds. She actively integrates historical perspectives and pedagogical innovations into her teaching, covering courses from Liberal Arts Mathematics to advanced topics like Real Analysis and Topology. Dr. Tucker is a member of the Mathematical Association of America and Association for Christians in the Mathematical Sciences. She has been honored with awards for teaching excellence, including the Promising Teacher Award (2018) and the Harold Huneke Teaching Award (2009).
Her presentations emphasize interdisciplinary outreach, such as using card games for geometry education and exploring the historical development of mathematics. She has delivered lectures connecting ancient mathematics to modern calculus, demonstrating her commitment to both research and educational innovation.
