Cherif Amor

Dr. Cherif Amor serves as the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs at Virginia Commonwealth University-Qatar. Previously, he held roles including Chair of the Department of Design at Texas Tech University and Director of the Interior and Environmental Design graduate program. He earned a Ph.D. in Environmental Design from the University of Missouri Columbia (2000), specializing in the 'semantics of the built environment.'

His research focuses on neuro-imaging applications in design, evidence-based design methodologies, sustainability practices, and cultural influences on built environments. He actively collaborates with academic and design institutions globally. Cherif has received over fifteen teaching, research, and service awards in recent years.

Professional roles include serving as a CIDA site visitor, EDRA interior design network chair, TIEC curriculum consultant, and Middle East design colleges curricula designer. He formerly led the IIDA Texas/Oklahoma Chapter’s education division.
