Cheng Yuning is a distinguished Professor and Doctoral Advisor at Southeast University, currently serving as Head of the Department of Landscape Architecture within the School of Architecture. He holds multiple prestigious positions including Designer of Jiangsu Province and Representative of Nanjing Municipal People's Congress.
His research focuses on the integration of rationality and sensibility in landscape architecture, with particular expertise in digital landscape architecture, parametric design methods, and quantitative technical approaches to landscape environmental performance. Cheng has pioneered research in digital landscape architecture in China, significantly enhancing the international standing of this field.
Cheng Yuning has received numerous scientific accolades including the Huaxia Construction Science and Technology Award first prize, 5 national invention patents, and 1 utility model patent. His scholarly contributions include authoring the 'Digital Landscape-Logic, Structure, Meaning and Method' (a National Key Publishing 13th Five-Year Plan work), 'Modern Landscape Design Theory and Method', 'Wetland Park Design', and over 60 academic papers.

With 39 years of professional experience, Professor Cheng has led his team to complete over 100 landscape architecture planning and design projects, achieving significant economic and social benefits. He currently oversees the key National Natural Science Foundation project 'Theory and Methods of Urban Green Space Planning under Low Impact Development (51838003)' and has completed multiple national research projects including 'Parametric Landscape Architecture Design Methodology' and 'Intensive Landscape Architecture Design Methodology Based on Quantitative Technology'.
Professor Cheng serves in numerous leadership roles including Member of the 7th and 8th Discipline Evaluation Group of the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council, Member of the National Steering Committee for Graduate Education in Landscape Architecture, Director of China Society of Landscape Architecture, and Editor of journals including 'Chinese Garden' and 'Landscape Architecture'.
