Chee K. Yap

Chee K. Yap is a Professor of Computer Science at the Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences, New York University. He holds a PhD from Yale University (1979) and an S.B. from MIT (1975). His research focuses on computational geometry, computer algebra, visualization, algorithmic robotics, complexity theory, and numerical robustness. He leads the Exact Geometric Computation Group and contributes to the Active Visualization Project. Recent work includes validated algorithms for differential equations, path planning for robots in SE(3), and certified root isolation methods. Yap has authored over 200 publications, with contributions to ISSAC conference proceedings and software tools like SIAN for ODE identifiability analysis. His research emphasizes bridging theory and practice in geometric and algebraic computation.
